Katrina Ford Shares ‘To The Lighthouse’ | New Album Out October 30

Katrina Ford has shared ‘To The Lighthouse’, the title track from her new album, due October 30 via Violin Films.

We’ve been following Ford’s solo work for a while now, from her self-titled EP in 2022 through ‘H.E.A.R.T.’ two years later. The new record finds her once again working closely with Sean Antanaitis, her longtime musical partner going all the way back through Celebration and Love Life.

‘To The Lighthouse’ came directly from Virginia Woolf’s novel of the same name. “Even when looking out the window the brain is a Time Machine,” Ford says. She was thinking about the strange way an ordinary moment can suddenly bring another time back into the room, and about promises, delays and all those things that are thought but never quite said.

There are plenty of synths here, which makes sense given some of the music Ford had in mind while making the album. She has spoken about returning to the sounds of 1980s pop and even film scores such as ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ and ‘Top Gun’, things she heard growing up and has come to appreciate differently with time.

Most of the album was put together with Antanaitis at their home studio. Their method sounds pleasingly simple: hang out, play, build things up, then start taking away whatever doesn’t belong.

‘To The Lighthouse’ follows the earlier singles ‘Transcending’ and ‘Winter Sun’. The album contains nine tracks and arrives October 30 via Violin Films.
