Sehore Announce ‘Ptkbdglmnr’ with New Single ‘IA’
Spanish experimental pop project Sehore have announced a new album, ‘Ptkbdglmnr’, due November 20, with ‘IA’ serving as its first single.
Sehore have only been around since 2025, but there is already a fair amount of music behind the name. ‘Ladencia’ appeared in January of that year, followed by ‘Husfikbur’ in September. If those records suggested a project with little interest in settling down, ‘IA’ does nothing to correct the impression.
Written in 5/4 and built around a diminished scale, the song has a clipped, slightly mechanical motion to it. Sehore describe it rather neatly as being about “people with fewer human traits than Turing’s machine.”
That line gives you a reasonable clue as to where their head is at. There is humour in the music, but it is rarely straightforward, and the more peculiar details tend to be the useful ones.
The album title is a good example. ‘Ptkbdglmnr’ was deliberately made difficult for algorithms to handle. It comes from an acronym built around the Spanish phonetic sequence PeTaCa–BoDeGa–LiMoNeRo, which is itself used to group certain consonant sounds. Hardly the sort of title anyone is likely to mistype successfully.
The record is arranged as a series of short pieces that are meant to recall old A-side/B-side singles, with the music moving between consonance and dissonance and making deliberate use of kitsch along the way. It was recorded at Paco Loco Studio and mastered in Kadifornia by Mario G. Alberni.
Sehore’s earlier work has already made a habit of using less familiar musical devices without turning them into dry exercises. ‘Pesadilla’, from ‘Ladencia’, was written in the Locrian mode, while the broader project has moved through unusual scales, compact forms and deliberately awkward contrasts.
‘IA’ continues that approach, though it is direct enough not to feel like somebody demonstrating a time signature for its own sake. The odd metre is simply part of the way the thing moves.
