Ok Cowgirl Share ‘Rock N Roll Ruined My Life’ Ahead of ‘Rhinestone Cowgirl’

Brooklyn indie rock band Ok Cowgirl are premiering their new single, ‘Rock N Roll Ruined My Life,’ the final preview of their forthcoming second album, ‘Rhinestone Cowgirl,’ out August 21 via Easy Does It Records.

Produced by Alex Farrar, whose credits include MJ Lenderman, Wednesday and Indigo De Souza, the album follows the band’s 2024 debut, ‘Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut.’ Previous singles include ‘Cruise The Town,’ ‘God Made A Farmer’ and ‘Prepared To Lose.’

Led by singer and songwriter Leah Lavigne, ‘Rock N Roll Ruined My Life’ looks at the less romantic side of trying to build a life around music: day jobs, financial uncertainty and the question of whether continuing is worth the cost.

“I wrote this song to myself and to so many friends who have struggled to justify staying the course while pursuing this precarious path of being an artist,” Lavigne explains. “I wrote this song to vent those feelings, and every time I sing the tongue-in-cheek hook I am reminded how untrue it is. Music is the most fulfilling and joyful part of my life.”

Ok Cowgirl will celebrate the release of ‘Rhinestone Cowgirl’ at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on August 22, followed by a run of Midwest dates with Brother Bird in September.
