Matt Hitt Drops Debut EP, Unleashes ‘Carried Away’ Single & Video
Welsh-born, New York-based artist Matt Hitt has officially stepped into the spotlight, sharing his debut solo EP, ‘You’ll Be Lucky,’ out now via Killphonic Records.
The five-track collection, produced by Timothy Lanham of The Vaccines, delivers Hitt’s signature mix of thoughtful crooning and melodic depth.
The EP title, ‘You’ll Be Lucky,’ comes straight from a favourite phrase of Hitt’s father, meaning essentially, “well, I doubt that’ll happen.” These tracks confront that very idea, walking the line between skepticism and a spark of optimism. Hitt notes, “They’re either in belief of or rejection of that feeling. Melancholic but hopeful, I suppose.”
Leading the charge is the EP’s focus track, ‘Carried Away,’ which arrives today with a new lyric video. This song is a genuine, nostalgic indie rock standout. Lyrically, it captures a mind searching for stillness amidst of closeness. ‘Carried Away’ is featuring a melody that will stick with you long after the final note.
Hitt’s background includes fronting the indie band Drowners, who released two LPs on Frenchkiss Records and toured with Foals, Cage The Elephant, and Arctic Monkeys and recently playing touring guitarist for The Vaccines. With ‘You’ll Be Lucky,’ Hitt fully embraces his own distinctive sound.
‘You’ll Be Lucky’ and ‘Carried Away’ are available everywhere now via Killphonic Records.
