The Austin psych band will support Psychedelic Porn Crumpets across eight US dates in September.

Austin psych band Strange Lot have released their self-titled album through Greenway Records. They have also shared its opening track and final single, ‘All I Know,’ and announced a September tour supporting Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.

‘All I Know’ was the song that brought the direction of the album into focus for singer and guitarist Dominic Mena. Its driving rhythm, blurred guitars and synth textures became a reference point as the rest of the record took shape.

“‘All I Know’ was the turning point for the demos and the direction of the record,” Mena explains. “It fused all the sounds I’d been wanting to hear while capturing the feeling I’d been trying to find. It was the first track I sent to Alex Maas, and from there, it felt like the north star for the rest of the record.”

The album grew out of a difficult period for Mena. In 2022, he found himself without a band and came close to ending Strange Lot altogether. Instead, he returned to recording alone and completed nearly 30 demos in the space of a month. Those recordings became the basis of the new album, bringing together driving rhythms, fuzzed guitars, crunchy synthesizers and a hazy shoegaze atmosphere.

After hearing the demos, Alex Maas of The Black Angels began working with Mena on the record. The finished album was produced by Maas and Mena, with Jim Eno of Spoon mixing four tracks and Howie Weinberg handling the mastering.

Once the album was complete, Mena assembled the current Strange Lot lineup with Cameron Martin on drums, Levi Murray on bass, and Jason Desiderio on synthesizer and guitar. The band recently completed a tour supporting Melody’s Echo Chamber and will return to the road in September for eight dates with Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
