Cat Vacation release ‘Thunder Lover’, and it does not hang around. Two minutes, straight in, straight out.

The band call it “pocket sized springtime bliss”, which fits the feeling of the track. It’s quick, warm and full of movement, with that rush you get when the weather turns and everything suddenly feels possible again.

Cat Vacation are a new Norwegian rock band from Oslo, but the members are not new to this. They have played in Lukestar, Team Me, Kaospilot, Meta Forever, Jet Set Njet, Magnus Moriarty and Snöras.

‘Thunder Lover’ pulls from garage rock, punk, ’70s psych and post-hardcore, and beyond. It sounds very direct! The band’s own description says plenty: “Is it poetry? Is it art? Is it money? It is rock.” That feels about right. The song does not need much explaining.

Cat Vacation had already written and recorded close to two albums’ worth of music before their first releases came out, so ‘Thunder Lover’ feels like another piece of a bigger picture. They play Vaterland Bar & Scene in Oslo on 19 June.
