Mixol Shares New Single ‘bibiboobiboo’ From Debut EP ‘The Fool’
Beijing-born art-pop artist Mixol has shared ‘bibiboobiboo,’ the latest single from her debut EP ‘The Fool,’ out June 24.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter builds a strange, bright world around the new track. ‘bibiboobiboo’ sounds playful on the surface, but its story is darker: two young girls in love, a time machine, jealousy, heartbreak, and revenge. The single follows “we jump, our carnival” and “mixologist,” and arrives with a video that mixes animation and cinematic scenes.
Mixol draws from art-pop, alt-pop, orchestral textures, and theatrical songwriting. She cites Björk, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, and Sheena Ringo as major influences, but her own sound leans into something more personal: part witchy pop, part storybook, part emotional chaos.
Born and raised in Beijing, Mixol later studied music production at Berklee College of Music and classical composition at Tokyo College of Music. Living between languages and cultures has shaped the way she writes, especially her interest in the sound and texture of words.
‘The Fool’ is rooted in tarot and built as a wider creative universe, with songs connected to visual storytelling, short-form videos, and 8-bit, kawaii-creepy game-like pieces. Across the EP, Mixol uses fantasy to explore identity, emotion, and transformation.
‘bibiboobibo’ is out May 22, with ‘The Fool’ following on June 24.
