‘‘87 via ‘94’ by Methadone Skies | New Album, ‘Spectres at Dawn’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘‘87 via ‘94’ by Romanian post-rock juggernauts Methadone Skies, taken from their upcoming album, ‘Spectres at Dawn,’ set for release on October 25th, 2024 via Haywire Records.
Methadone Skies are back and heavier than ever with their upcoming album, ‘Spectres at Dawn.’ After a three-year hiatus since their last release, ‘Retrofuture Caveman,’ the Timisoara-based quartet is set to take fans on a mind-bending journey through their latest sonic adventure.
The first single from this highly anticipated record is ”87 via ’94,’ a track that perfectly encapsulates the band’s signature blend of colossal riffs and sprawling soundscapes. This isn’t just another single—it’s a declaration of Methadone Skies’ evolution, pushing the boundaries of their genre with a more intense and focused approach.
Guitarist Casian Stanciu shares, “We’ve had ’87 via ’94’ in our live set for a while now, and it’s always been a crowd-pleaser. It’s infectious and gets people moving. But the video is a wild departure from that energy. It’s a darkly comic look at the corporate grind, following a character’s descent into chaos. Filming it was a blast.”
The video, directed by Flavius Retea and Alexandra Dragu of Eclecticat Design, is a visual feast—a surreal and frenetic portrayal of burnout and breakdown set to a soundtrack of gigantic riffs and hypnotic grooves. It’s a fitting introduction to an album that promises to be a sonic odyssey, blending heavy psych, doom, and progressive rock into a cohesive and captivating whole.
The album, recorded, mixed, and mastered at Consonance Studio, is poised to elevate the band’s already impressive discography, which includes standout releases like ‘Retrofuture Caveman’ and ‘Colosseus.’
With a tour on the horizon featuring dates across Central and Eastern Europe, Methadone Skies are ready to bring their new material to the masses. Catch them live and experience the unrelenting power of their music firsthand.
