‘Ivy’ by Suricates
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Ivy’ by Suricates, taken from their album, ‘This Shit Is Golden’. Directed by Christian Fischer.
‘Ivy’ is a metaphor for a parasitic relationship between two entities, one that grows with the other over time, and then overgrows and exploits it. While the song can be interpreted as a description of an interpersonal relationship, the videographer Christian Fischer took up ‘Ivy’ as an environmental issue in his music video. The refrain line “Let me live my life in sin and luxury” can be viewed in many ways, whereby the video shows the parallel worlds between wild nature and its exploitation, without revealing a winner or a loser.
Christian Fischer is an independent film maker based in Vienna, who might be known best for his his work with Urban Art-artist Nychos and his documentary “The Deepest Depth Of The Burrow”, but recently focused strongly on the conception and production of music videos, like for example with Savanah, Modecenter or The Heavy Minds.
Since their latest release – their live-recorded album ‘This Shit Is Golden’ (2019) – the five members are working on new songs and videos as well as booking further tours through Europe.
‘This Shit Is Golden’ combines all musical and personal strengths of Suricates, which shows in a very complex yet atmospheric songwriting, guided by influences from the 70’s.
