Young Lovers Release ‘The Circle’s End’ Album, Share ‘Silver Lining Lost’
Los Angeles band Young Lovers have released their new album ‘The Circle’s End’, out now on Anxiety Blanket Records.
They’ve also shared ‘Silver Lining Lost’, along with a video. It’s a slow, guitar-led track that gradually builds, keeping things fairly understated as it goes.
The band are Mikey Macapagal on guitar, Eddie Ramos on drums, Josh Solomon on bass and Jonny Higa on vocals. They first started playing together at DIY shows in the San Fernando Valley.
Young Lovers say the album centres on grief, heartbreak and getting stuck in the same old patterns. They describe the band as a way of working through things they couldn’t really face on their own. The record pulls from post-rock and shoegaze, with touches of pop, R&B, alternative country, jazz, slowcore and orchestral music.
It was produced by David Jerkovich. Compared to their 2020 debut, it keeps that heavy guitar sound but brings in more vocals and slightly broader arrangements. The songs touch on loss, relationships and the struggle to move on.
‘Silver Lining Lost’ follows earlier tracks ‘Ross’, ‘Back Again’ and ‘Mourning Routine’.
“The Circles End is our portrait of grief, self-sabotage, and heartbreak, and the vicious cycles they trap us into,” the band shares. “Young Lovers as a project exists as our collective outlet for thoughts and feelings we couldn’t process alone or through any other method, and so this album is us coming together to deal with our own struggles with these very issues. Referentially, this album pulls as much from post-rock and shoegaze as it does from our individual influences of classic pop, R & B, Alternative country, cool jazz, slowcore, and orchestral music, as those forms of music helped us survive and find meaning in difficult times in our lives. We sincerely hope this album can do the same for somebody else.”
