‘This World Of Mine’ (Neil Halstead Remix) by HOO
HOO are proud to share the Neil Halstead remix of ‘This World of Mine’ exclusively with Its Psychedelic Baby Magazine.
Synth-man & song-writer Nick Holton’s HOO throw rich analogue textures and guitar drones across free form synth experiments, reverse fitted to psychedelic songs imbibed with a dusty Englishness all of its own.
Mostly recorded in HOO’s chapel-like studio in Wallingford, full of 1/2” tape & analogue echo units and a little at Cube in Cornwall. Finished in Brooklyn NY by Heba Kadry.
Majority of the tracks are long and complex, often humming along to a pop-friendly electronic pulse free of conventional song structure giving a floating, airy quality, always in motion. Juvenile and uncompromising music in the form of its conception sharing much with HOO’s heroes Sonic Youth playing as Tangerine Dream.
Their long player ‘Centipede Wisdom’ offers a complex array of feelings and settings, but it flows together and feels complete although changing over the sides. Throughout, is a skewed sense of wonder and playful exploration with genuine political bite hidden in the tall grass
