Club Cactus Release New Album ‘3’
French duo Club Cactus, featuring Anthony Laguerre and Jean-Michel Pirès, have released their new album ‘3’ today, October 16, through Sérotine Records. The eight tracks bring together heavy drumming, electronics, noise and a number of guest vocalists.
Both musicians are drummers. Laguerre has played with Filiamotsa and Ravage, while Pirès is known for his work with NLF3 and Bruit Noir. In Club Cactus, they play face to face, each behind a drum kit, adding other instruments and sounds to the percussion. We featured ‘Ya Lil, Ya Sbleen’ back in September, with Leïla Jiqqir on vocals. Etenesh Wassié also appears on the new album, which makes use of several languages and different approaches to singing. At times the drums are relentless, but there are quieter moments too. ‘Por Vezes’ opens with heavy percussion and bursts of noise, while ‘Lass Mich Bei Dir Sein’ has a more industrial sound. ‘Anada’ brings piano and contrasting voices into the arrangement. The album takes its loose theme from three actions: falling, rising and leaving.
