Wendy Bevan Shares New Single and Video, ‘Fragile Times’
Wendy Bevan has shared ‘Fragile Times’, the second single from her forthcoming album, ‘Alone With The Unknown’, produced by Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes.
Following last month’s ‘Innocence’, the new song pairs Bevan’s atmospheric vocals with sweeping synthesisers and polished electronic production. It offers another glimpse into the cinematic gothic pop and darkwave sound of the album, which arrives on 18 September.
‘Fragile Times’ reflects on the connections formed during periods of uncertainty and the hope that can remain even when the future feels difficult to see.
“Hope is a human space that lingers between the words we don’t say,” Bevan explains. “‘Fragile Times’ is a gentle reminder that hope, no matter how fragile, is a hard thing to kill.”
“Sometimes we can’t see beyond the veil, so we find ourselves suspended between an echo of ancient worlds and the possibility of a future place, where we are both the roots and the newly fallen seeds. ‘Fragile Times’ carries the lightness and beauty of being alive, as it also questions the weight of our time on this earth.”
The accompanying video continues Bevan’s interest in bringing music, fashion and cinema together. It draws inspiration from avant-garde filmmaker Maya Deren and Herb Ritts’ 1990 California desert photographs featuring the Versace Veiled Dress, where the figure appears almost sculptural against the wind.
‘Alone With The Unknown’ explores connection, commitment, love and the uncertain space between desire and certainty. It also continues Bevan’s creative partnership with Rhodes following their work together on ‘Astronomia’.
“We must accept that answers are never in tomorrows,” Bevan says. “Exploring optimism, human resilience, resistance, compassion and empathy, ‘Fragile Times’ questions all that we share, all that we imagine to be certain and all that comes with being human.”
‘Fragile Times’ is out now. ‘Alone With The Unknown’ will be released on 18 September 2026.
