Weather Happy Release Debut EP ‘Moth’ and Share Title Track
UK duo Weather Happy have released their debut EP ‘Moth’ through Easy Does It Records.
The four-track release features Holly Carter, formerly of BERRIES, on guitar and vocals, alongside drummer Harry Carter. The title track is also available to hear below. Holly and Harry have known each other since they first started playing music, back when they were doing Blink-182 covers together. They’ve both been busy with other projects over the years, but Weather Happy has brought them back together, this time with just guitar and drums. ‘Moth’ is about finding the courage to do things you might otherwise shy away from. Holly came up with the idea after thinking about moths flying towards a light, seemingly without fear. “‘Moth’ is about standing tall and being bold,” she explains.
She also makes a good point about moths being overlooked in favour of butterflies, which may be prettier but, in her opinion, aren’t nearly as brave.
The EP was recorded with Rod Jones of Idlewild, who helped the pair figure out how to fill the space normally occupied by a bass guitar. Both musicians enjoy playing around with rhythms and unusual song structures, and the record includes some of the heaviest material either has written.
The other three songs, ‘It Leaks Out’, ‘Trees’ and ‘Day Storm’, were released as singles over the past few months.
