Wynona Bleach Release New Album ‘Animal Style’

Belfast alt-rock band Wynona Bleach have released their second album, ‘Animal Style’, through Fierce Panda Records in the UK and Propeller Sound Recordings in the US.

The album follows their 2022 debut, ‘Moonsoake’, and is the band’s first full-length release as a four-piece. The lineup features Melyssa Shannon (vocals), Jonny Woods (guitar, vocals), Carl Gilmore (bass) and James Foy (drums).

‘Animal Style’ includes the singles ‘Be Positive’, ‘Religion’ and ‘Not Cool With It’, along with ‘Shrink’. The album centres on guitar-driven songs and draws on the band’s live sound while continuing the alternative rock style heard on earlier releases.

The album was recorded in a ballroom above a working men’s club in Belfast and mixed at Battery Studios in London. Production was handled by Jonny Woods, Andy Bradfield, Avril Mackintosh and Wynona Bleach, with mastering by Simon Francis.

Formed in 2018, Wynona Bleach have played festivals including Reading & Leeds and completed a 12-date headline tour of Russia. Their debut album, ‘Moonsoake’, was recorded in an abandoned factory in Portugal after supporting Alice in Chains on the Irish leg of the band’s 2019 world tour.

Since then, Wynona Bleach have toured the UK, Ireland and the US, appearing at SXSW and New Colossus Festival and playing shows with Ash. After a series of US dates and a performance at Bob Clearmountain’s Apogee Studio in Los Angeles, the band signed with Propeller Sound Recordings for the US release of ‘Animal Style’.

The new album continues the band’s guitar-led approach, combining melodic hooks with a straightforward rock sound.
