Honeybadger Release New EP ‘State Of Play’

Brighton trio Honeybadger have released their new EP ‘State Of Play’ today.

The band consists of brothers Eddy and Joe Widdows and bassist Luca Brett-Smith. Their music draws on garage punk, grunge and alternative rock. The six-track EP features heavy guitar riffs, driving rhythms and a direct approach that reflects the band’s live sound.

Produced by Paul Win, ‘State Of Play’ includes the tracks ‘Itch’, ‘Mishear’, ‘Killswitch’ and ‘Gonna Break’. The songs move between alternative rock, grunge and garage-punk influences while keeping the focus on guitar-led arrangements.

According to the band, the EP was inspired by themes including social pressure, digital disconnection and uncertainty. They describe it as their most direct release so far.

Talking about the EP the band explain: “At its core, State of Play is a reflection of modern pressure, digital disconnection and societal unrest. It tackles a world where people hide behind screens, truth is distorted at the flick of a switch, and power operates increasingly in the shadows. It’s our most raw expression of release in a world where no one can hear you scream. No polish, no Mr nice guy – just exactly how it feels to exist right now.”
