tellKujira Stream New Album ‘La lucha es un poema colectivo’
Italian quartet tellKujira have released their new album ‘La lucha es un poema colectivo’ via Superpang.
The album was conceived and composed during an artistic residency at IRCAM in Paris in November 2023. During that time, the band found themselves close to the strikes at the Centre Georges Pompidou, where workers were protesting to defend their rights. That experience became part of the record’s centre, giving the music a clear sense of collectivity, tension and social reality.
tellKujira move between contemporary music, electronics, art rock and free jazz. Their sound is built from improvisation, fragments and careful recomposition, with abstract textures, industrial tones and shifting rhythms all feeding into the album.
The group is made up of Ambra Chiara Michelangeli on viola, Francesco Diodati on guitar, Francesco Guerri on cello and Stefano Calderano on guitar. On ‘La lucha es un poema colectivo’, they use that line-up to create music that is very open and unstable, but ironically still tightly shaped.
The album’s title translates roughly as “the struggle is a collective poem”. It fits a record shaped by protest, listening and shared space, where the music often seems to break apart before finding a new form.
