Bristol’s Grandmas House return with their debut album, ‘Baby You’re A Winner,’ released on 21 August through Brace Yourself Records.

The title track is the latest taste of the record and shows a band still full of bite, but with a little more room in the songs. ‘Baby You’re A Winner’ is sharp, direct and melodic, with Yasmin Berndt’s vocal carrying the song’s main feeling: trying to remind someone close to you of their own worth when they can’t see it themselves.

The video, made by Clump Collective, plays with the idea of winning and losing through a strange game-show setting. It suits the song well. The album was produced by Ali Chant, whose past work includes PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius and Yard Act. It follows the band’s three EPs, ‘Grandmas House’ from 2021, ‘Who Am I’ from 2023 and ‘Anything For You’ from 2025.

The current line-up is Yasmin Berndt, Poppy Dodgson, Zoë Zinsmeister and Polly Jessett. Together they bring more voices and more colour to the band’s sound. Recent single ‘DOG’ had plenty of anger, while songs such as ‘Dance’ and ‘Spring’ suggest the album moves through different moods rather than staying in one lane.

Grandmas House have already had a busy year, including shows at SXSW and dates across Europe. With ‘Baby You’re A Winner,’ they sound ready to move beyond being a promising live band and into something stronger, stranger and more complete.
