Bosh Rothman Performs “In the Cold, Cold Night” Live in Studio

Bosh Rothman, the Los Angeles based songwriter and drummer known for his work with Kills Birds and Living Things, is releasing his new EP ‘Joshua’ on May 8 via Broken Sticks Records.

Today, he’s sharing its final single, ‘Cold Cold Night,’ a cover of the White Stripes song originally sung by Meg White.

“Sung by the amazing Meg White, one of my biggest influences in drumming,” Rothman says. “Her signature sound helped carry The White Stripes into the ether.”

‘Joshua’ finds Rothman moving through Americana, folk, and indie rock while looking back on a painful stretch in his life. The EP includes his original song ‘Joshua,’ along with reimagined tracks by the Carpenters, Ringo Starr, Dave Grohl, and others.

Rothman says the project came out of a period when he felt stuck, isolated, and weighed down by grief. Thinking about Ringo Starr and Dave Grohl, two drummers who carried deep loss into new creative chapters, helped him find a way back into making music.

“This record is dedicated to everyone who is suffering quietly,” he says. “You’re not alone. Much love.”
