Pete Holidai Revisits the Radiators from Space Debut ‘Television Screen’

What we have here, friends, is a new-fangled, but cool and thoroughly invigorating version of what was the rollicking debut 7” single by the Radiators From Space, originally issued on London’s super hip Chiswick record label during the early months of that combustible year, 1977 – after already playing out for years as Greta Garbage & the Trash Cans!

The indomitable spirit of teenage punk and rock’n’roll still burns clear, and coruscatingly bright her on this fast- moving, not to mention eminently credible romp through one of the Dublin group’s finest moments, inspired – as was last year’s successful experiment ‘Electric Jukebox Volume One’ glam-meets-punk vinyl and CD collection – by such lofty heights as T. Rex, the New York Dolls as well as other signposts like the post-Island label Mott the Hoople shenanigans.

Pete Holidai’s rip-roaring performance throughout, on guitar and vocals, is here assisted by original Radiators lead vocalist Steve Rapid, who helps to deliver such deathless, sucker-punch chorus lines as: “I’m gonna smash my Telecaster through the television screen ‘cos I don’t like what’s goin’ down…”. An immensely fun, but still tough and enlivening ride from beginning to end!
