The Six-Piece LA Collective badsoma Just Released ‘Coffee Pot’

Formed in the post-pandemic tremors of the Los Angeles scene, badsoma started as Iranian-American multi-instrumentalist Armin Fard’s solo vision and quickly swelled into a dynamic, six-person collective.

Their forthcoming self-titled EP, a truly collaborative effort with writing credits for every member is politically and environmentally aware, but not afraid to be intensely personal.

‘Coffee Pot’ is that core feeling distilled. As the band puts it, the track is “a love song, full of yearning and angst” and a conscious throwback to “a time that’s lost in your parents’ dusty cassette collection, when rock bands full of big personalities ruled the charts.” It’s an infectious slice of indie rock that feels familiar. Listen closely and you can hear the story of how this collective came together. Though Armin wrote ‘Coffee Pot’ before the full lineup, which now includes percussionist Braden Rose, guitarist Starlit, bassist Donald Segien, string-player Lindsey Hamilton, and second guitarist Ana Léon, was complete, the track was completely reconstructed and reimagined by the full crew. Produced by Armin and Braden, the song was brought to life in their LA studio, then fine-tuned in Long Beach, capturing the rich, dramatic sound that has already found a home on college and community radio nationwide.

It’s the sound of six disparate musicians—from an Arizona conservatory alum who found her blues appetite in a strange new town, to a local mixology legend—finally clicking into a tight, explosive unit.
