Takeda Unveils ‘California’ | New Album, ‘In Venus’ Train’
Takeda’s debut album, ‘In Venus’ Train,’ is a deeply personal journey into the mind of frontman Josh Harrison.
The Norwich quartet’s new single, ‘California,’ offers a compelling glimpse into this world. Harrison reveals the track is about his experience of leaving a cult he was a part of his entire life, an act he describes as “the worst imaginable thing you could do to yourself.”
This intensely personal history serves as the powerful undercurrent to the band’s sound, a masterful blend of melancholic, organic folk and expansive alt-rock. The album, produced by industry veteran David Pye (Faithless, Dido), dives into themes of obsession, love, and grieving a past life, using mystical figures and biblical metaphors to tell a story that is both intimate and universal. As Takeda’s music moves between poetic delicacy, explosive intensity, … it becomes clear that this album is an emotional journey.
