Mia Wilson Unveils ‘Face To Face,’ New Single From Her Debut Album
Southern California singer-songwriter Mia Wilson is ready to make her mark with a self-titled debut album. Produced by Tim Ramsey (Vetiver, Little Wings), the record stirs introspective piano and guitar songs with orchestral arrangements, creating a sound reminiscent of golden-era Laurel Canyon artists like Carole King and Judee Sill.
The album features contributions from drummer Trevor Beld Jimenez (Fruit Bats) and was mostly recorded live in Los Angeles. The album is a finely crafted record from an artist with a unique vision. Royal Oakie Records will release Mia Wilson on November 14, 2025.
When asked about today’s premiering track ‘Face to Face,” Mia replied: “This chord progression was dug up from an old song Skyler wrote when he was first learning to write. It really came to life when I started adding a melody to it. The lyrics came from experiencing love from a distance and trying to capture that feeling of anticipation when you finally get to be near that person.”
The album’s a love letter to the late ’60s and early ’70s Laurel Canyon sound, evoking the same sun-drenched warmth as classics like Carole King’s ‘Tapestry’ and Judee Sill’s ‘Heart Food’. The journey began in 2021 when Wilson and her partner Skyler Lusteg started writing these songs, eventually catching the ear of Ramsey and drummer Trevor Beld Jimenez (Fruit Bats) while opening for their band Parting Lines. Their encouragement and creative spark breathed new life into the tracks, setting the stage for what was to come.
