Hermetic Delight Unleash ‘9 Lives Have Gone By’ from Upcoming Album ‘Vagabond Melodies’
A new era for French/Turkish trio Hermetic Delight begins with their latest single, ‘9 Lives Have Gone By.’ This track is the first taste of their upcoming album, ‘Vagabond Melodies,’ and serves as a heartfelt tribute to bassist Atef Aouadhi’s late cat, Siouxsie.
Early in their career, Hermetic Delight was a whirlwind of shoegaze and noise, showcased on albums like ‘Heartbeat,’ ‘To The Grave To The Rave’ and ‘Vow’. Their sound evolved with a rawer, live record before they made a significant shift in 2020. That year, their album ‘F.A. Cult,’ produced by Charles Rowell of Crocodiles, marked a turning point. It brought their pop sensibilities to the forefront, creating a more expansive sound without sacrificing their signature tension.
With vocalist Zeynep Kaya at the helm, the band now builds a powerful, central motif with obsessive precision. A whirlwind of sound—from Atef Aouadhi’s interwoven guitars and synths to Delphine Padilla’s precise drumming—dances around it.
This new single and the album to follow on November 7, 2025, through the October Tone label, build on the band’s journey from shoegaze roots to a more refined, pop-infused sound. The new video, created by artist Henri Gander, visually brings to life the magnetic presence that inspired the song, making it a must-watch for anyone who understands the deep bond between humans and their feline companions.
