Austin’s own Annabelle Chairlegs, the project of singer-songwriter Lindsey Mackin, has returned with a dreamy new single, ‘Ice Cream On The Beach.’

The track, produced by the prolific Ty Segall, is a perfect slice of summery bliss, blending infectious synth melodies with Mackin’s hazy, sublime vocals and a breezy rhythm section. It’s a song that sounds exactly how its title suggests—sweet and fleeting.

Accompanying the new music is a warm, sun-drenched video directed by Pooneh Ghana, perfectly capturing the song’s carefree vibe. As Mackin puts it, the song is a love story, noting, “‘Ice Cream on the Beach’ is always a great idea, until it’s not.”

The new single marks Mackin’s first release since 2022 and her debut on TODO, the label that is home to artists like Jamie Lidell and Surfbort. The track finds Annabelle Chairlegs exploring grittier, more mechanical textures while holding onto the blissful hooks and melodies she’s known for.

Annabelle Chairlegs has built a reputation in the Austin scene since Mackin moved there in 2013. With self-released albums like ‘Watermelon Summer’ and ‘Gotta Be in Love,’ and an Austin Music Award for Best Music Video, she has established herself as a captivating songwriter with a magnetic live presence. Her music, which blends a whimsical spirit with the gritty, industrial textures of her New Jersey roots, has landed her on bills with The Zombies and Lucy Dacus, as well as on festival stages at Austin City Limits and SXSW.
