New York’s Bec Lauder and The Noise Release Infectious Single ‘Bent Up’

Bec Lauder and The Noise return today with ‘Bent Up,’ a sharp, playful track that doubles as the band’s most personal release yet.

It’s the first song entirely written and produced by the trio themselves, captured in the heat of a spontaneous jam and polished together afterward. That raw immediacy runs through the recording—you can feel the spark of a fleeting idea turned into something permanent.

Frontperson Lauder describes the track as circling themes of attraction and misadventure, spun with a cheeky edge drawn from her own dating experiences. That lived-in quality gives ‘Bent Up’ both humor and bite, balancing its pulsing groove with lyrics that dance between vulnerability and boldness.

The single continues to build momentum for their debut album ‘The Vessel,’ due September 12th via Killphonic. Written in New York’s East Village and shaped through nearly a year of live shows, the record channels the spirit of friendship, youth, and survival in a city that can be equally exhilarating and unforgiving. With Maggie Bishop on drums and Soph Shreds handling guitar and bass, the group has carved out a sound that thrives on energy and connection.

Lauder explains. “I came up with a little diddle in band practice and we all just ran with it for a moment. I recorded our improv and what we played in that moment became the song. We recorded it live and decorated it like a cake together. The over-arching feelings we were playing with, were mainly rooted in feelings of desire in a defiant and cheeky way inspired by my ever-evolving and unsuccessful dating life.” In addition to being a musician, Lauder also has a successful career as a model–she’s been covered in publications such as SPIN, Women Wears Daily, Alt Citizen, and more.
