Ron Gallo Battles Burnout on ‘Too Tired To Love You’

Ron Gallo returns today with ‘Too Tired To Love You,’ a deceptively breezy bossa nova track with a biting message buried beneath its mellow groove.

Out now via Kill Rock Stars, the song critiques the exhausting churn of late-stage capitalism and the collective burnout it breeds. Gallo describes it as “a little bossa nova that, in short, is about how modern stage capitalism is making everything go to shit.” He continues: “In America we live in a system where 99% of people are overworked, exploited and worn down, which leads to apathy, which leads to neglect of our surroundings and our sense of humanity. It creates this “everyone for themself” individualistic society which creates imaginary division amongst the people in order for very few to thrive. No one seems to have the time, energy or resources to create the changes they wish to see in the world so we just put our heads down and hope someone else takes care of it. The song is about my desire to combat that because it’s really unnatural and destructive. It’s on us, here and now.”

Known for his sharp-tongued punk rock and existential probing, Gallo trades distortion for clarity on this one, but the urgency is intact. It’s a weary love song for humanity. We could say it’s one that pleads for reconnection in the face of systemic exhaustion. “It all matters,” he says. “Even when it seems trivial. No one else is coming to fix it.”

‘Too Tired’ emerges from Gallo’s prolific ‘7 AM Songs of Resistance’ series, which is an ongoing project where he writes songs daily in under five minutes. The series has racked up viral attention, drawing fans like SZA, Moby, and Mark Ruffalo, and revealing a stripped-back, fiercely honest side of Gallo.
