sundayclub’s Debut Single ‘Bannatyne’: Dreamy Pop from Winnipeg’s Urban Heart

Somewhere between rural stillness and city noise, sundayclub was born, the project of Courtney Carmichael and Nikki St.Pierre, two friends who turned early adulthood limbo into dreamy, gut-punch pop.

Their debut single, ‘Bannatyne,’ out June 18 on all DSPs, is a glowing first offering. It’s a song that sounds like walking home alone at 2AM, unsure if you’re in love or just overly caffeinated.

The Winnipeg-based duo draws from the soft grit of Clairo, the shimmer of Alvvays, and the nostalgic ache of The 1975. The track is airy but anchored, with a bedroom pop palette that makes everything sound a little sun-drenched, a little heartbroken.

Released with a self-directed video, ‘Bannatyne’ drifts through Winnipeg’s Exchange District during Nuit Blanche, capturing one of those aimless, magic nights when the city feels like it’s yours alone.

On the track sundayclub shares, “‘Bannatyne’ explores the complex feelings of a burgeoning relationship in and amidst a colourful urban landscape. The song captures a renaissance of freedom, awe, and vulnerability in one’s self and surroundings. Leaning into a stripped-down and playful bedroom pop sound, sundayclub’s debut single celebrates the city that inspired them.”

In a world that feels increasingly detached, sundayclub offers a quiet reminder: your feelings are real, your city is alive, and your story is still unfolding.
