Monchmonch Drops ‘Martemorte’

We’re excited to premiere ‘Martemorte,’ the new album from Brazilian experimental punk artist Monchmonch. Released via Saliva Diva and Seloki Records, the record is a sharp, chaotic and often funny look at a collapsing world, blending punk energy with Brazilian references and a sci-fi narrative about billionaires escaping to Mars while Earth falls apart.

What started as a small EP recorded in Brazil ended up evolving into a full-length conceptual album built across continents, with collaborations from both Brazilian and Portuguese artists. Monchmonch mixes punk sounds with flashes of experimental pop, pulling influences from acts like Viagra Boys, Tom Zé and even Radiohead. Tracks like ‘Jeff Bezos paga um pão de queijo’ balance dystopian themes with absurdist humor, using pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) as a symbol for power, desire and banality.

The physical vinyl release includes an exclusive b-side titled ‘Dos entulhos loucos cavam sol,’ produced by Ukaro Yamoto, offering a more introspective and intimate side of the artist, with softer arrangements, acoustic guitars and moody synths.

Alongside the music, Monchmonch is also releasing a comic book that visually expands the world of ‘Martemorte.’ Featuring work from a collective of independent artists, the comic brings another layer to the album’s surreal narrative.

‘Martemorte’ is available now. Stream it, grab the vinyl, and dive into Monchmonch’s unique universe.
