‘Bus Baby’ by Devarrow | New Album, ‘Heart Shaped Rock’

Exclusive video premiere of ‘Bus Baby’ by Devarrow, taken from the upcoming album, ‘Heart Shaped Rock,’ slated for release on October 4th via Paper Bag Records.

Today Devarrow is releasing a new single ‘Bus Baby’ from his upcoming LP ‘Heart Shaped Rock.’ ‘Bus Baby’ is the perfect indie-folk-pop blend that carries a bittersweet undertone, weaving emotion through each note. The song opens with catchy, rhythmic guitar strums that immediately draw you in, setting the stage for the entrancing chorus that lingers in your mind long after the music fades. It’s the kind of track that captures a moment, inviting listeners to feel every rise and fall, with an irresistible pull that makes you want to hit repeat.

Devarrow says, “If all the other songs on this record are the chapters, ‘Bus Baby’ is the introduction. It was a song conceived and written in my converted school bus, on a couple of cold winter days by the woodstove. Over the last three years, I have spent a lot of time alone at the bus, working away on its conversion to a studio and retreat, and with all this time away from home, a joke emerged with my partner that I was cheating on her not with a person, but with the bus. So, ‘Bus Baby’ is about my love affair with the bus, and it stands as a metaphor for me finding happiness and clarity in the mundane. It’s also the only song on the record to use a drum machine – a choice that comes from the fact that I was writing the song alone, and needed a steady beat to accompany me as I worked out the parts of the song. Instead of fully replacing the programmed drums with Evan’s real ones, I decided to leave in the drum machine as a reminder of the song’s origins. Another fun fact is that the bells you hear in the bridge are in fact me holding my two kittens up to the mic, and shaking their little collars. “

Graham Ereaux, who makes music under the alias, Devarrow recently announced his upcoming LP ‘Heart Shaped Rock.’ Despite his seemingly bustling life in rural coastal Canada as a carpenter, surfer, and nature lover, his latest album, ‘Heart Shaped Rock,’ defies any notion of musical complacency. Opening with the lines, “Every morning I just wake up and I just wash my face. Go downstairs and make some breakfast, coffee, and some bacon and eggs,” the record offers a refreshing take on life’s simple pleasures, injecting vitality into a folk genre that can often lean towards melancholy.
