‘Dmaot’ by Rasco | Album Premiere

Exclusive album premiere of ‘Dmaot’ by Rasco, set to be released May 3, 2024, via Batov Records.

Inspired by Charlie Megira’s hit ‘At the Rasco,’ the band draws from the classic sounds of The Cramps, the Beach Boys, and Elvis, reinterpreting 60s surf and garage rock with a contemporary, Mediterranean twist. Rasco’s lush harmonies and catchy guitar riffs create a unique vibe that feels like it belongs at Twin Peaks’ iconic Roadhouse.

Rasco came to life in a smoky cave in Jerusalem when electric guitarist Eden Atiya and bassist Gaya Wajsman met and later teamed up with drummer Itay Hamudi. Their self-titled debut album, featuring dreamy vocals in Hebrew, earned attention from renowned artists like Hania Rani and secured spots on Spotify’s editorial playlists. Their sound, laden with hypnotic guitar and ethereal vocals, led to collaborations with bands like Altin Gün, Boom Pam, and Messer Chups, and tours across Germany, including an appearance at Cologne’s c/o pop Festival.

‘Dmaot’ (Tears) marks a bold step forward for Rasco, exploring darker and denser shoegaze influences from the ’80s. Produced by Uri Brauner Kinrot of Boom Pam, the album packs a heavier punch without losing Rasco’s signature charm.

The album explores the balance between city life and the countryside, with Eden noting the blend of heavy electric sounds and nature-inspired lyrics. ‘Layla’ begins with chime-like guitars before a shoegaze wave crashes in, while ‘Nahar/Rau’ offers garage rock energy with a relaxed touch. The band’s cover of Tears for Fears’ ‘Head Over Heels’ seamlessly merges The Smiths and Julee Cruise into their haunting style.

Rasco defies genre boundaries, blending surf rock and psych into a captivating sonic journey. ‘Dmaot’ is proof of their artistic growth and ability to craft immersive musical landscapes.
