Exclusive video premiere of ‘Moving Forward,’ the title track from the upcoming EP by French artist, composer and producer Francesco Virgilio, better known as Mokroïé.

The EP, to be released digitally on November 3, 2023, favours an eclectic electronic sound with stronger rock influences than by the past. Its intriguing title alludes to a chaotic universe in which creativity and energy are the only great factors capable of repelling evil and preventing imminent tragedies. The goal was to produce strong music that would motivate listeners to act positively.

The artist is inspired by sounds, which evolve into compositions and subsequently into films, culminating in an osmosis of numerous reading levels.

This opening track was written as an instrumental, progressive piece. As it progresses, it holds us for a few unsettling measures before better comforting us with a higher-pitched rhythm until the end, which is jarring and plunges us into abysses illustrated by cyclical and percussive deflagrations.

“Through this music video, which properly presents the EP’s core subject, I hoped to describe a journey that starts out peacefully and progresses through frantic moments. As is often the case, after finishing a song, I listen to it in a detached manner and, in a matter of seconds, I see visuals synchronised to the music that seem obvious to me and from which I cannot escape. They allow me to express (and reveal to myself) the idea of a frightened nature threatened by the consequences of climate change. I’ll then need some time to figure out how to turn this mental movie into a music video, but thanks to the wonderful images for the less spectacular, I could make my point more clearly.” – Francesco Virgilio
