‘The Way Out’ comes with an artistic video by Costa Rican film maker Sebastian Blanco, who also made videos for Natalia Lafourcade, Julieta Venegas, Cocofunka and Señor Loop.
Sonia’s lead vocals carry you softly through the whole song and comfort you with warm melodies floating around them. ‘The Way Out’ represents to me that it’s never too late to make big changes in life”, says Carmona, who moved from Costa Rica to Zurich before the pandemic hit. “The song is about hope and excitement for new challenges. I wanted to dive into this Stevie Nicks kinda vibe and it’s probably one of the songs that I feel the most attached to.” Sonia and her band fellow musicians Ian Hudgins, Joel Morales Insua and Gini Jungi are dropping the first Mount Jacinto’s EP ‘Outward Signs’ on March 24th.
Mount Jacinto is driven by the presence of the mountain in the middle of Palm Springs desert. Mystical, energetic bass-lines and melodies paired with raw singer-song writing. The Zurich based artist’s debut single ‘You Bring the Psych’ deeply dives into modern pop rock psychedelia with a groovy tint of twang. The band is composed by Joel Morales on bass, Gini Jungi (Annie Taylor) on lead guitar, Ian Hudgins on drums and Sonya Carmona on rhythmic guitar/vocals.
