‘Haywire’ by Rocky MTN Roller | Album Premiere

Exclusive album premiere of ‘Haywire’ by Rocky Mtn Roller, out September 12th, 2022 via Who Can You Trust? Records.

Appropriately named after a makeshift rat trap used in the backcountry cabins of the Rocky Mountains; Rocky Mtn Roller is grimey vibes, soaring guitar with guttural vocals. The band is clearly influenced by Alice Cooper, The Stooges, Thin Lizzy, and Blue Öyster Cult and it includes past members of Danava and Lecherous Gaze.

‘Haywire’ was recorded and mixed from January to March 2021 at Shangri Nah Studios (Urbana, IL) by Matt Wenzel. Drums and bass at Boombox Studios (Mahomet, IL) by Caleb Means. Mastered at Louder Studios by Tim Green.

In an interview from 2020 Zach Blackwell told us:

“I came up with the name from when I worked in the backcountry in Montana. In the cabins, people had built these rat traps that were made out of a bucket with a runway up to a can covered in peanut butter on a wire. When the rat runs up to the can it just spins off and falls. The bucket has just enough water in it to drown the rat. They affectionately called this Rube Goldberg-esque creation the Rocky Mountain Roller”.

“I have been coming to them with the songs and riffs and, ya know, I have my ideas, and they each put they’re spin on it. Me and Ruby take turns on solos and he usually plays the low rhythm notes. I play the high ones. Alex puts in some crazy fills. His fav drummer is Ian Paice, so that’s good”.

The LP is released in an edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. You can pre-order your copy here!
