‘Salesman’ by Steph Green | New Album, ‘Thanks For That’

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Salesman’ by Steph Green, taken off the upcoming debut album, ‘Thanks For That’, out January 14, 2022 on Mashed Potato Records.

Songwriter/musician Steph Green harnesses a varied array of influences to create songs that are unpredictably harsh, sentimental, vulnerable, and funny. Her debut album, ‘Thanks for That’ is a concise, seven-track kaleidoscope that cycles through loud, distorted guitars, moody and romantic country-noir, sunny beach-pop, and shuffling folk-rock that will make you both laugh and feel the good kind of crappy. The album was recorded to tape over the course of three years in New Orleans and is out on Mashed Potato Records January 14th, 2022.

“I was really inspired by Procol Harum’s ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ when I was recording ‘Salesman’, with the loud organ really up front in the mix. I watched the music video for it a million times. It’s this very DIY-looking, handheld, bizarre video with strange compositions and band poses. There are capes and moustaches, and it’s hilarious and mysterious. Where did they show music videos in the ’60s? Before MTV?” Steph Green

Steph Green also played lap steel and sang in Pony Hunt’s new album ‘VAR!’.
