Alien Mustangs – ‘Beat Of The Earth’ (2020)
Sophomore effort from Greek spacey psychonauts opens with the hypnotic organ swirl of ‘Sound Of The Future’ and obvious Spacemen 3 comparisons are pushed forward via crystalline guitar streams and cotton-mouthed dreamy vocals.
Previous song titles such as ‘LSD’ and ‘Hypnic Trip’ hint at the fun in store, and hippie hoppy skip-along juggernaut ‘Fairy Meadows’ wraps a few tasty Garcia licks around serpentining organ for a long (10-minute) strange trip across the interplanetary space dust.
Wah-wah strobes and phased vocals highlight the trippy ‘Illusions’ and ‘Secret Days’ opens the flip side in a dizzy fuzzy vibe.
‘Darklands’ pulls off a rollicking Hawkwind riff-o-rama headnodder and ‘Waiting The Dawn’ ends on a groovy dreamy mellow vibe that prompts a flip back for a re-listen all over again!
