Drag Talk Release Debut Album ‘Drink The Ocean’ and Share ‘Kingdoms’

Los Angeles band Drag Talk have released their debut album ‘Drink The Ocean’ through MNRK Heavy.

The ten-track record arrives alongside a new single, ‘Kingdoms’, which deals with relationships, obsession and the thin line between love and hate. We first featured ‘Pony Up’ back in August, followed by ‘Would It Kill You’ in September. Now that the whole album is here, ‘Kingdoms’ offers another look at the rather complicated things singer Jutty Taylor has been writing about.

“The verses are about a relationship, Mars and Venus, the reconciliation of opposites,” Taylor explains. “The chorus more about para-social entitlement, but it’s all about the thin line between love and hate.”

Taylor has also admitted that the original chorus would probably have landed the band in trouble. He was angry when he wrote it, and the version that ended up on the album is what he jokingly calls the radio edit. Some of the lyrics also refer to the Tree of Life and its different spheres.

‘Drink The Ocean’ was recorded with producer Tom Syrowski at his Los Angeles home and Henson Studios in Hollywood. Brendan O’Brien contributes Hammond organ to the title track, while Olivia Morreale sings backing vocals on ‘Welcome to the Aeon’.

The band will be back on the road in November, with four Texas shows beginning in Houston on November 5.
