Savanna Ruth Announces Debut Album ‘The Baseball Diaries,’ Shares ‘Bad Thoughts’ Video
Chicago singer-songwriter Savanna Ruth has announced her debut album, ‘The Baseball Diaries,’ set for release on October 23, 2026, through Easy Does It Records.
The announcement arrives with the album’s lead single, ‘Bad Thoughts,’ and an accompanying video directed by Todd Diederich.
Formerly recording under the name Burr Oak, Ruth begins a new chapter with ‘The Baseball Diaries.’ The album was produced by Scott Lucas of Local H and Blake Smith, with mixing by John Agnello, whose previous credits include Dinosaur Jr., The Breeders and Redd Kross.
Built around fuzzed-out guitars and a strong melodic pull, ‘Bad Thoughts’ examines desire, uncertainty and the complicated emotions that can emerge when the shape of a relationship begins to change.
“This was written during one of the most confusing and emotionally complicated periods of my life,” Ruth explains. “At the time, I was in the midst of a long-term relationship with my ex-fiancée. We were in the beginning stages of trying to navigate being in an open relationship, and for the first time I found myself developing a very real and intense attraction to another woman. It wasn’t just a harmless crush, it was something I thought about constantly, and it forced me to confront parts of myself that I had been avoiding.”
The video was filmed around Chicago, including Wrigley Field and Thillens Stadium. The locations carry a personal significance for Ruth, who spent part of her childhood playing Little League baseball at Thillens. The video connects those memories with the themes of nostalgia, longing and personal change that run throughout the forthcoming record.
Written during the end of a long-term relationship and a period of emotional and personal exploration, ‘The Baseball Diaries’ considers desire, autonomy, attachment and the process of understanding oneself outside a previously imagined future.
‘Bad Thoughts’ is available now through Easy Does It Records.
