Efro Shares New Single ‘Run To The Sun’
Athens-born, Berlin-based solo artist Efro returns with ‘Run To The Sun’, a new single due out on July 3 via AWAL.
Written during a particularly cold spell in Berlin, while the artist found himself thinking of warmer days by the sea, the track is built around a straightforward guitar arrangement and a clear, unadorned melody. The guitars have a bright tone with a slightly rough edge, the production carries a faintly vintage character, and the song proceeds at an easy, unhurried pace.
Efro explains: “This song came intuitively to me, I picked up my guitar while daydreaming about summer days at the beach in places far away, while feeling stuck in snowy and cold Berlin. I started playing around with the lead guitar and everything clicked together. While we were in the studio the drums and bass all just came naturally. No specific plan in mind, just a vibe we wanted to capture.”
That instinctive approach suits the piece well enough. ‘Run To The Sun’ takes in elements of garage rock, surf-leaning guitar lines, and older psych and indie sounds, though it remains direct and largely unembellished. There are traces of 1960s and 70s guitar music, alongside something of the looser end of contemporary indie, but the prevailing impression is simply one of wanting to be elsewhere… somewhere warmer, and rather less grey.
Originally from Athens, Efro later studied in Brighton before settling in Berlin, and that movement between places appears to have informed the work. Following the debut EP ‘Year of Yearning’, ‘Run To The Sun’ marks the beginning of a further run of releases planned for the latter half of 2026.
