Michele Ducci Shares ‘Rain On Me’ From Upcoming Album and Animated Film ‘Snail in the Clouds’

Michele Ducci has shared ‘Rain On Me,’ the third and final single from his upcoming album and animated film ‘Snail in the Clouds.’ The album and full-length film will be released on June 5 via Monotreme Records, with a limited 180g vinyl edition planned for July.

The track was recorded and produced by Simon Milner at 4am Studios in London. Built around synth-heavy textures, a moving bassline, and Ducci’s worn, expressive vocal, ‘Rain On Me’ brings a more electronic pulse to the world of Snail in the Clouds.

Ducci says he wrote the song while imagining what rain might say if it could speak. Before recording, he had been listening to Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’ and thinking about its synth atmosphere. When he arrived at the studio, Milner suggested a similar direction for the track, which Ducci describes as a kind of telepathic moment.

The video, created and animated by Ducci and Letizia Mandoleisi, continues the story of ‘Snail in the Clouds.’ In it, Diodorus activates the tear ducts of the planet with ‘Rain On Me’ and is carried through the air by an umbrella.

‘Snail in the Clouds’ tells the story of a planet called Snail, home to hybrids of scorpions, snails, and humans who live according to a Pythagorean devotion to music. The story also follows Agostos, a cloud man and writer of musical operettas, and Doctor Subtilis, a talking smoke machine, as they threaten the planet’s musical life and joy.

With ‘Rain On Me,’ Ducci opens another part of this strange animated world: melodic, theatrical, and full of handmade detail.
