After two decades of near silence, Chevreuil are back in motion. The Nantes duo just dropped ‘Ordrus,’ a short, striking piece that lands as the third preview of their upcoming double album ‘Stadium,’ out April 24 via Computer Students.

‘Ordrus’ is over almost as soon as it asserts itself. It starts with a low, floor-tom thud that feels closer to a drill cadence than a groove, dry and unadorned, with no room ambience to soften it. The guitars don’t so much enter as fracture into view, clipped and misaligned. Nothing resolves. Instead, the piece folds in on itself, leaving a kind of negative space behind it. It plays like a hinge inside ‘Stadium,’ not a destination but the moment where one section gives way and something else starts to push through.

If you’ve been following the rollout, ‘Stadium’ is shaping up to be anything but a straightforward comeback. It’s their first album in 20 years, and they’re not easing back in. Instead, they’re leaning into movement and fragmentation, letting pieces like ‘Ordrus’ act as connective tissue.

The physical editions are just as meticulous. The standard release comes as a double 12-inch, 180-gram vinyl in a thick gatefold sleeve. There’s also a deluxe version that includes a 12-page codex, detailing the full recording setup down to parameter settings, which is either catnip or total overkill depending on how deep you want to go. That one arrives sealed in an aluminum sleeve with stark black print, very much in line with the label’s aesthetic. CD, cassette, and digital versions keep things stripped back, while a limited colored vinyl variant is only available through the label’s site.
