eels! eels! eels! Drop New Single ‘Owls’ From Debut EP ‘eel land’

Cambridge alt-rock trio eels! eels! eels! just released their debut EP ‘eel land’. The four-track project arrives alongside a lead single titled ‘owls.’

Recorded at Grange Studios with producer Isi Clarke, the record pulls heavy inspiration from the East Anglian fens. The band mixes local folklore with modern climate anxiety, turning tales of Fen Tigers into heavy, mud-soaked rock. It’s a first outing from a group that clearly embraces their rural roots.

‘owls’ leads the charge with fuzzy garage-grunge guitars and sharp indie vocal hooks. The band notes the song deals with the harsh sting of isolation. They compare the vibe to driving down empty country roads with a stubborn mindset, ready to face whatever comes next. The rest of the EP keeps that weird, hyper-local energy alive….

The rest of the EP is just as conceptually wild, with ‘Separated by the Cut’ spinning a mythic yarn about a local named Berney Bosgrove outsmarting the devil, ‘Nothing to Care’ colliding sunny LA aesthetics with bleak fenland overgrowth to show nature taking over the soul, and the closer ‘Warrior’ looking at modern climate dread through the bizarre historical lens of King Charles I draining the fens back in 1630.
