Elepharmers: Full Stream of Desert LP, ‘Western Wilderness’

The Sardinian heavy-psych trio Elepharmers has traded the starry expanses of their past for the scorched earth of their home island on their powerful new album, ‘Western Wilderness’.

We are premiering the full stream of the record ahead of its October 24th release on Electric Valley Records. Active since 2010, the band’s core sound is a heavy, sun-drenched collision of stoner rock heft and ’70s hard-rock influence. Where their last concept album, ‘Lords of Galaxia,’ leaned into space-rock digressions, ‘Western Wilderness’ is a focused return to form, finding its inspiration in the abandoned mining villages and reclaimed wildness of Sardinia’s forgotten coastal areas. The resulting nine tracks offer desert stoner rock and deep psychedelic episodes.

The band’s statement clarifies this essential shift in direction:

“The new album marks a return to basics, compared to the previous concept album ‘Lords of Galaxia,’ which featured many space-rock digressions. It is not a concept album, but in the course of writing the record, an underlying idea spontaneously emerged that binds the tracks both musically and lyrically. ‘Western Wilderness’ is an album inspired by abandoned mining villages, in an area where wild nature slowly takes back what man has taken from it over the centuries, amid silent sand dunes and sunsets over the sea.”

Elepharmers, who have shared stages with heavyweights like Karma to Burn and Orange Goblin, spent the pandemic years writing this material, and are now primed to return to the road, with a European tour planned for November 2025.
