PARTICLS Launch ‘Bullet Train (Frida)’ Ahead of Debut EP
London-based six-piece PARTICLS have released their new single, ‘Bullet Train (Frida),’ the radiant precursor to their highly anticipated debut EP, ‘Every Now & Then,’ due November 15th.
The track, which arrived on October 15th, further solidifies the sextet’s unique position at the intersection of psych-rock and disco. Produced by Strange Pill at Mashrooms Studios, ‘Bullet Train (Frida)’ is described by the band as “a vague love letter to Frida Kahlo… and bullet trains, somehow.” It explores deeper themes of authenticity and the joy inherent in the creative process, echoing the iconic Mexican artist’s spirit. The composition is an inventive hybrid, weaving folk elements and 70s rock textures with unexpected flourishes of glitching psych effects.
‘Every Now & Then’ promises to capture the band’s dynamic chemistry, blending 1970s prog rock with contemporary psych and disco rhythms. The recording process began with rhythm tracks cut aboard the unique boat studio Lightship 95, engineered by the renowned David Holmes, before the material was deconstructed and reconstructed at Mashrooms Studios with Ben and Zahara of Strange Pill. The final result is a record described as playful, danceable, yet melodically rich and musically challenging.
Formed in a serendipitous moment following a Kerri Chandler DJ set, PARTICLS set out to fuse their previous project’s 70s progressive vibe with a new, rhythm-focused mandate to make people dance.
