Fred Brown Announces Debut EP with Introspective Single ‘Distraction’
Emerging singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fred Brown is making an entrance with the announcement of his debut EP and the release of its melancholic title track, ‘Distraction.’
Recorded in the studio of renowned producer Louis Grace (known for his work with Mura Masa and kaeto), the new single offers a deeply intimate glimpse into Brown’s world.
‘Distraction’ weaves together muted guitar, delicate piano, and unhurried drums, creating a rich, downtempo soundscape that feels very warm. With Brown himself on drums, Joey Crouch on bass and engineering, and Henry Arrowsmith on piano, the song is a collaborative effort that perfectly captures the indie-folk writing style set to define the upcoming EP.
According to Brown, the song is a reflection on a complex emotional state. “The song is about seeing myself as a distraction for others around me. In a both positive and negative way,” he explains. He also notes how creating the song helped him realize that entertaining others became a way to distract himself from his own fears and ambitions.
