Cheap Trick’s Robin Taylor Zander Drops Solo Single ‘All She Wrote’ Off ‘The Distance’

Robin Taylor Zander of Cheap Trick has dropped a brand-new single, ‘All She Wrote.’ The track is a dreamy, poignant tune that stands in contrast to his previous release, ‘Nobody’s Home.’

“The song ‘All She Wrote” reflects on the struggle of communication while also acknowledging that sometimes, no amount of sincerity can bridge the gap between one another,” Zander explains. “The recurring theme of ‘maybe that’s all she wrote’ describes that universal melancholy feeling of lost connections, and the hope to create new ones some day that mean just as much as the lost ones. Musically the song is uplifting, upbeat, it swings. It’s one of my favorite new ones because I really like the drum parts I came up with, everything you hear on the record is me, aside from my sister singing vocals in the choruses.”

Robin Taylor Zander is a musical polymath. A full-time member of Cheap Trick, he’s the band’s Swiss Army knife, fluent on guitar, bass, drums, and backing vocals. But now, with his latest single, ‘All She Wrote,’ he’s turning that versatility inward.

This new track is a one-man show—a singular vision where Zander wrote, sang, and played every instrument himself: guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals. Co-produced with legendary rock producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon) and mixed by Douglas and Jay Messina (Kiss, Peter Frampton), the song is a raw expression of his own distinct sound.

‘All She Wrote’ follows Zander’s 2023 solo debut, ‘The Distance.’ With a sound that blends the best of ’60s pop, ’70s punk, ’80s new wave, and ’90s alternative, Zander is forging a unique path—one that’s deeply personal.
