Following the release of their 2023 covers LP, ‘I Promise,’ Slothrust have returned with a fiercely original track, ‘Wildcard.’

The alt-rock duo comprised of the inimitable Leah Wellbaum and drumming powerhouse Will Gorin have delivered a dangerously seductive, groove-heavy anthem. On ‘Wildcard,’ Wellbaum’s vocals slink over a hypnotic rhythm as she whispers, “Sometimes I feel like a wildcard.” The tension builds to a point of no return before erupting into a raw and explosive guitar riff, backed by a theatrical choir chanting the track’s title.

“‘Wildcard’ is an unhinged summer song for the collective,” the band explains, “about what it means to lean into the unpredictability so many of us are feeling these days. Consider this your invitation to keep it weird and wacky within reason.”

Simultaneously minimal and massive, ‘Wildcard’ captures Slothrust at their most and magnetic. It’s a chaotic, seductive, and utterly irresistible sonic ride.
