It Sound’s ‘It’s Called Blood’: A Post-Punk Ritual from the Upcoming LP
‘It’s Called Blood’ is the title track and lead single from the upcoming LP by It Sound, set for release on October 10 through Seahorse Recordings.
Listeners will immediately pick up on the track’s charged, post-punk vibe. Drawing on the experimental defiance of Swell Maps, the stark repetition of The Fall, and the synth-laced tension of Soft Cell and Fad Gadget.

At its core, ‘It’s Called Blood’ delivers a powerful message about meaning and presence. The song conveys that everything seen matters, everything is sacrifice, and ultimately, everything is blood. These lyrics are delivered as a steady incantation, striking a balance somewhere between spoken word and direct confrontation.
The accompanying video, directed by Rockland Bazemore, takes the song’s central idea and twists it into a kaleidoscope of unexpected images. Bazemore, a veteran motion graphics artist who famously left New York’s ad world to live on a sailboat, infuses the visuals with a dreamlike edge that perfectly complements the sound’s uneasy beauty. Adding another layer, the single’s artwork, created by Pascal Le Gras (known for his work with The Fall and The Jazz Butcher), captures something strangely serene.
While It Sound is primarily a solo project, the LP features some key collaborators. Caithlin DeMarrais of Rainer Maria contributes, as does avant-jazz force Weasel Walter. For an added touch of intimacy, vocals from Metzger’s children, Yana and Lukas, are also included. The album also features a dub version of ‘In Between the Seas,’ remixed by Lectric Sands, which appears on the latest Zum Audio compilation curated by George Chen.
‘It’s Called Blood’ truly marks a compelling new chapter for It Sound, creating a world entirely its own.
