‘Like You Do,’ Moonpool’s Dive Into Duality

Moonpool is a trio from Denver that feels like they’re pulling sound from the edges of the mind and heart.

Their music moves between heavy shoegaze waves, grunge, and post-punk. It’s a strange and beautiful mix where guitars, synths and voices are carrying pieces of their own story.

Their new release ‘Syzygy’ is made up of two songs that wrestle with what it means to be split in two. The first track, ‘Like You Do,’ is a kind of ghostly shout into the void, grappling with desire and the ways we see ourselves through broken mirrors. There’s something deep and tangled beneath the surface, a sense of love turned sharp and the mind trying to make sense of it all. Then comes ‘Aim’ which feels like an eruption, a storm of ringing guitars and pounding drums that confronts the messy dance of losing and finding yourself all at once.

They made these songs mostly on their own which gives them a feeling like you’re right there in the room with them…intimate but also huge like a dream you can’t shake.

After their first EP ‘Nothing Sacred’ this new release feels like Moonpool stepping into something bigger…it’s a sound that sits somewhere between what you know and what you’re still trying to figure out.
