Winter McQuinn shares new single “Walkin’ Through That Door” (feat. Feign Jima) from upcoming album “Where Are We Now?”

Winter McQuinn is back with “Walkin’ Through That Door,” the first single from his upcoming third solo album Where Are We Now?, out September 19 via Third Eye Stimuli and Born Losers.

After a big 2024 that included his second album Move To The Trees, a collab EP with Acacia Pip, and the launch of the Beefheart and McQuinn project, Winter keeps the momentum going with another glowing track rooted in psychedelic folk and soft rock.

“Walkin’ Through That Door” is all smooth grooves, rich textures, and soft 70s glow. Feign Jima takes the lead on vocals with a stunning performance that blends warmth and ache in equal measure. The track opens with mellow piano and quickly slides into a silky groove with drums, bass, and rhythm guitar, while Dylan Young (Way Dynamic) adds some seriously catchy lead guitar and backing vocals. There’s a bittersweet magic to it all, especially when Feign Jima sings “I don’t know what to say, ‘cause I’m in love but I’m distracted.”

The track comes with a charming video, shot by Creepy Baby Productions, that turns a rehearsal space into a nostalgic log cabin dream. It’s got Winter on every instrument and Feign Jima delivering the song’s emotional core.

Recorded mostly at home in Northcote, the new album is full of local collaborators and covers themes like love, aging, and anxiety. But for now, “Walkin’ Through That Door” is a perfect first taste…sun-drenched, a little sad, and easy to love.
